Amal Yemen Talent Portal

Musicians

Amal Yemen is more than just a virtual event. It is a movement that looks to introduce the world to the beauty, diversity and heritage of Yemen. Part of the Amal Yemen Event is to showcase some of the best work that Yemen has to offer. We hope to shine a light on these talented individuals and introduce an international audience to Yemen’s art, culture, cuisine, music and more.

Ahmed Alshaiba

Ahmed is a musician born and raised in Yemen, living in New York. Completely self-taught he plays a mix of eastern and western-style music. He dazzles listeners with surprising and innovative covers of the most western and popular of musicians.

His first performance with the oud was in 2007. After playing on Woman’s National Day in 2009, he began getting invited to perform for numerous events in Yemen. His fame grew quickly, performing before audiences that included Hillary Clinton, the President of Turkey as well as the President of Yemen.

He is on a mission to help the world appreciate one of the oldest and most beautiful musical instruments ever conceived.

She is also the founder and head of the musical group named “Mashaqer Taiz”, who focus on recreating Taiz’s old song’s in an innovative and modern way.

Hajar is a fourth year student in the Department of Media and is specializing in public relations at The College of Literature in Taiz.

Ibraheem Fadl

A Yemeni composer, singer and music producer, Ibrahim dreams of creating new Yemeni music with modern musical templates. He hopes to present Yemeni art in a contemporary way. “It would not necessarily be identical to other western arts, but rather, would create a new musical style for Yemeni music.”

After being greatly influenced by multiple musical schools, Ibraheem found himself within his Yemeni identity, after which he was able to rediscover his soul. He is currently working hard to complete his own album. He faced many obstacles during the process, the hardest of which was to find a music production company to work with in Yemen.

“I aspire to organise musical concerts for Yemeni music; they would include multiple musical instruments, and I would tour the world to showcase this music.”

Ahmed Saif

Music has been part of my life since childhood. However, I only started working in the field in 2006 and didn’t produce my first record until 2009. From then on, I began to take part in various projects, both solo work and collaborations with other musicians. I have also been involved in many humanitarian and social projects which celebrate Yemen’s national identity.

Recently, I have been working on introducing the world to Yemeni music with a unique take on global music genres such as jazz, reggae, swing, reggaeton, house and many other musical styles. This music will be the first of its kind.

I believe blending our music culture - whether with a melody, a lyric, or a musical instrument - with international music styles will allow the world to discover, explore and learn about the rich Yemeni culture. I am currently working on producing my first album which has taken a lot of time and effort. I hope that one-day Yemeni music will reach new corners of the world.
