Amal Yemen is more than just a virtual event. It is a movement that looks to introduce the world to the beauty, diversity and heritage of Yemen. Part of the Amal Yemen Event is to showcase some of the best work that Yemen has to offer. We hope to shine a light on these talented individuals and introduce an international audience to Yemen’s art, culture, cuisine, music and more.

Hashem Al-Ghaili

Hashem Al-Ghaili is a video producer, science communicator and filmmaker who was born and raised in Yemen. He obtained his master’s degree in Molecular Biotechnology from Jacobs University Bremen in Germany, and currently works as a full-time science communicator. He runs his own Facebook page “Science Nature” which has over 32 million followers and reaches around 400 million users per week. His videos on Facebook have garnered nearly 17 billion views. They cover a wide range of subjects: astronomy, physics, biology, medicine, nature, technology and innovation. His science communication activities extend to YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, TikTok and LinkedIn. In 2018, he directed a short Sci-Fi film called "Simulation", which received multiple awards at international film festivals. He is currently writing his first novel “Simulation: The Great Escape”, which centers around the same theme of the short film. This is due to be published in the very near future.

Yemen Used To Be

A youth-led art initiative that aims to alter stereotypes, misconceptions, and Yemen's negative image. Through our platform, we direct our efforts in recollecting, illustrating, and telling stories about the culture and heritage of past Yemen.

With a group of Yemeni talented volunteers, we adopt various digital art mediums in Arabic and English to reach a wider audience and educate them about Yemen. Furthermore, we aim to go beyond social media's framework by presenting content on the ground through various exhibitions, events, and seminars on a local and international level as a means to revive and preserve the Yemeni Heritage.

Somaya Gamal

A Yemeni content creator and presenter, with a passion for travel and social sciences. Her content is characterised by the pursuit of mental clarity, inner peace and balance. 

Somaya is also known for her spontaneity, honesty, and transparency in front of the public eye; she is not afraid to show her feelings which vary between joy, sadness, fear and courage. She is convinced that “the ultimate form of courage is to be you and to show your true self, believing that you are enough and worthy of love”.

 

Mariam Nadem

Known as the world's first Yemeni model, first began her career in 2016. She was born to a Yemeni father, and  Russian mother, and was raised in a Yemeni household in Sana’a, Yemen, up until 2014. Her family then moved to Uzbekistan where she continued her studies and launched her career. 

 

Mariam is now living in Moscow, Russia, where she still works as a model and actress. She is very proud of her Yemeni roots, and considers Yemen to be a big part of who she is

Ezaldeen Aref

Graduated with an economics degree and psychology minor program degree. He is a Yemeni content creator, who has been creating videos since January 2016. He started vlogging and posting about his travels, study tips and social issues. His channel has been an inspiring platform for the Yemeni youth community to share thoughts and discuss social issues.

Adeeb Saeidi

Young Yemeni American entrepreneur and landlord in NYC. He graduated from RHHS in 2008 and worked on his real estate business with his family and quickly grew their portfolio from owning small businesses to having multiple mixed use buildings around NYC. Adeeb settled in the US at a very young age, but continues to actively support small Yemeni businesses and personalities, to help shine a positive light on Yemen.


Yemen Fans

A Yemeni platform on Instagram, which was established by Zaid Sadiq Al-Zomor at the beginning of 2013, for the purpose of promoting Yemen in general. The page publishes pictures of its regions, culture and heritage, through the eyes of both Yemeni and foreign photographers. Over the years, this platform has helped shine a new light on Yemen, and introduced its followers to a Yemen they had not known before.
